Getting Back into the Swing of Things

Well it is September. That means 2 things: back to work and back to school. I have been quite busy since I last wrote. I have been editing photos, shooting more photos, getting my curriculum ready, and preparing to switch gears in my MFA program. Yes, I did decide to change MFA programs. Now, instead of Animation/Visual Effects, I am doing Web Design/New Media. I am still at The Academy of Art University but decided to change gears.

I really liked doing the visual effects stuff, but I am extremely worried about being able to teach those skills in Texas or find outside work. The good thing about the web design/new media program is that I am not just learning about web design, but also usability and interface design for things such as the iPad. I am more confident that I will be able to put these skills to use more effectively so I can start to pay off my loans when I graduate.

I am still pursuing my photography while teaching and going to school, so I am busy. A few weeks ago I did my first real portrait shoot and I think it went really well. The client was extremely pleased with the shots and I found it to be fun and relaxed, even though it was a hot August day. I am also exploring additional shooting opportunities such as sports photography and am really excited about that. It is going to be a busy year, but I am confident that I will be able to ride the wave and make it through.

One of my goals is to update the blog at least twice a week, whether it be some posts of my school projects, photography projects, ramblings, or tutorials so stay tuned. Now that everything has started up again, I am ready to go.
